Plumbers are experts whose job entails the repair, install and maintaining plumbing systems. They are involved in residential and commercial building plumbing work. They are who you turn to whenever your plumbing system develops any problems. You may attend to some of those issues you see, but you need their expertise on site nonetheless. You may think it is a simple matter, only for it to turn out to be more than that.
You should, therefore, call in their services once you find certain signs. A slow draining is one of them. When it takes too long for water to drain off a sink or bath, there is an issue. Drains can clog up over time, due to dirt acclimating in there. This is illustrated best when leftover food particles are stuck in the kitchen sink, or hair stands collect in the bathroom plug hole over time. You need the plumber to come remove those particles since they have the right equipment to do so.
If you notice the boiler is also covered in limescale, you need to call them in. A boiler usually has a heat exchanger. Over time, boiling all that water causes the buildup up limescale, which slows down its efficient heating process. You will notice that the heater is making some popping and rumbling sounds when turned on, due to the calcium deposits buildup at the bottom. You need them to come remove that buildup, and take the boiler back to its efficient operating settings.
Another indicator you need those services is low water pressure. If you notice that your shower is producing only dribbles of water and not the usual gushes you are used to, you can point that to several options. It may be due to calcification in the small holes of the shower head. There may also be a clog in the pipes. You need to call the experts in to have those incidents looked into.
There is also the occurrence of colored water, which is a problem. Cloudy or white colored water means there is air trapped in the pipes. This is also a sign of hard water. You will need a plumber to come and either clear the air in the pipes, or install a water filter at the mains. Brown or yellow water tells you rusting in the pipes is going on. Green water is a sign of copper in the pipes. Where there is a color other than clear water, you need their services as soon as possible.
